Under-sink water heaters

A small heater under the sink gives hot water in seconds at a tap far from the main system, and stops litres of cold water going down the drain while you wait. Most plug into a normal power point.

How to choose

Which type fits your sink

1

Several taps or your own tap: SHC

The SHC works at mains pressure with any tapware and can feed more than one outlet. It needs a safe tray and a drain under it.

2

One sink, simplest install: SNU

The SNU is open-vented: it needs one of Stiebel Eltron's special taps, but no drain or relief valve. One outlet only, and not for a hand basin.

3

Boiling water: HOT 2.6

The HOT 2.6 keeps 2.6 litres at up to 95°C for tea, coffee and cooking, through a child-safe tap.

FAQ

Questions about under-sink water heaters

Can I plug it into the power point under my sink?

The SHC (1.6 kW), SNU (2.2 kW) and HOT 2.6 (1.6 kW) all plug into a standard 10 amp outlet. A plumber still connects the water.

Can the SNU supply a bathroom basin?

No. Stiebel Eltron says a tempering valve cannot be fitted to the open-vented SNU, so it is not for basins. Use an SHC or a DHCE instead.
